The earhquake was real, obviously the video is an exaggeration and meant to be a joke.

Had to do a little research, and the earthquake in New York this morning was measured at 4,8 on the Richter scale. Which is a moderate earthquake that is felt by everyone, but usually does not cause any damage to well constructed buildings.
