Today we take a lot of things for granted. There are machines that can do almost everything. And we too easily forget that for much of human history there were NO machines, just tools… and thousands of unknown people. We are amazed that there are centuries-old buildings that are more epic than any new building made of glass and steel, but we no longer appreciate the achievement
Or we walk over bridges that were built by the ancient Romans and wonder about dilapidated bridges that are less than 50 years old…
and this applies to EVERY craft. I am e.g. Fan of the series ‘Forged in Fire’, where blacksmiths compete against each other, to name another craft as an example
As for ‘Forged in Fire’, we are lucky enough to have that on British television too, via what’s known here as ‘freeview’. I must admit, I have been known to enjoy some of the episodes.
Not a tattoo I don’t think but a VERY well edited picture, with a rather convincing overlay, showing where the light would naturally catch certain angles.
