Surreal plans for now:

Well when the site is directly connected to the forums it would be cool to implement a function to post video snippets and photos directly from the video feed. Would be a huge advantage over the CamCaps forum

Sounds good to me. One thing coming to my mind are fast loading times. A thing the CC forums is really suffering from lately. Thanks for including my idea. Might be a bit surreal I agree. But we really grow with great challenges. Don’t we?

Well we need to pay attention to it and in case we notice loading times to increase (this will happen eventually), we will offload media to CDN and will give more resources to forum itself. For now this community idea is in test for all of us, including regular viewers and guest visitors, and we didn’t make anything special to speed things up.

@VHTV what are going to be the rules for posting images, gifs, and videos?

@VHTV Comments about your site can turn somewhat negative in nature. How tolerant do you expect to be in regards to negative comments voiced here? If I were to say, this apartment is shit or this apartment is on my shit list, would that be acceptable? What if I said that trans person is a freak, would that be acceptable? You ask people not to criticize people. How exactly can you expect people to do that if the nature of the forums is itself a topic about people who are living under cams? I hope that you plan to be fair about this. Many people in your audience don’t like porn stars, people who sit in front of cams for views, people who are gay or trans, people who fall under certain managers, people who cam to sites like chaturbate. I guess time will tell.

These rules are yet to be written. So far we are not limiting anything, but we may in recent future, just to keep things tidy. We definitely will not prohibit posting short videos, images, gifs at this forum.

It is certainly a touchy subject

My suggestion would be these:

I would not allow any form of private messaging outside of private messages directly to the admin.

I would not allow the creation of an private clubs.

I would not allow other members to see the online status of other members.

I would not assign any moderators who are not employed by vhtv. No one besides vhtv, should be able to access other members email address or IP.

When a person signs up for this forum their user name is their email name minus the domain. You need to fix that quick for privacy protection.

It certainly is. Good luck with that!

The last time a voyeur site tried to create a chat ability it turned into a nightmare. The easy cure for that is to not allow anonymous users to post. Make sure that a member has to join vhtv even if just free in order to post comments.

Btw, members need to be able to quote posts.

This is a very important question and the topic is extremely sensitive for sure.

How tolerant do you expect to be in regards to negative comments voiced here?

We are always considering constructive feedback. But flaming and hatred will not be tolerated. Again, we are yet to experience the boundaries and rules will be written and adjusted to keep civil discussions.

If I were to say, this apartment is shit or this apartment is on my shit list, would that be acceptable?

Well that would be yours (or any user’s) opinion.

What if I said that trans person is a freak, would that be acceptable?

Same. The opinion is yours to express.

You ask people not to criticize people.

Did we? Criticism is a core of conversation, sometimes, controversial one. But there’s a edge to be crossed that leads to directed hatred, which, we believe, have no place at VHTV Community.

In the end, our goal here is to make VHTV Community a platform for people to communicate with each other and to be able to decide what to tolerate at the community. We believe that we will be able to give that power to community, using tools like voting. This will take some time to introduce here. By then, any user can Flag the comment to raise attention of VHTV Community Staff and device if the comment fits the Community. This is not an ideal scenario and we will work something out, together, as a community.

Yes, you did.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

What is an insult to one person is just a joke to others. This is the problem you’ll encounter.

I would not allow any form of private messaging outside of private messages directly to the admin.

You have a point, but we don’t have a plan to limit VHTV Community to communicate with each other privately.

I would not allow the creation of an private clubs.

This is James writing this reply, and I personally disagree with you. Private conversations/clubs/categories is anybody’s right to do. Those should follow general VHTV Forum rules, though.

I would not allow other members to see the online status of other members.

We will take this concern into consideration. But are users allowed to see online status now? So far the only thing any user can check is “last seen” status, which gives approximate estimation on when the user was online. But we don’t see this as a security concern.

I would not assign any moderators who are not employed by vhtv. No one besides vhtv, should be able to access other members email address or IP.

Sure, you are right here. Actually, we have already made this mistake a week ago, giving non-employee user a status of “Moderator”, but we revoked it just before public launch yesterday due to the same concern. Moderator role can see user’s IP & email by default, which goes against your and our point here. Instead of that, we will be using Trust Level’s, which can be automatically earned by any user with time, given the fact this user’s efforts are recognized by community. This is not much, and doesn’t allow checking other users private data, but allows helping with forum threads and categories.

When a person signs up for this forum their user name is their email name minus the domain. You need to fix that quick for privacy protection.

This is certainly a privacy concern which we are aware of. So far user is being greeted by bot when signing up and is being sent a message where we advise to change the username if they need. We will fix this in recent future, giving the random username for newly signed-up user.

Yeah, the guidelines there are generic, generated automatically when the forum is set up. These are the guidelines Discourse is offering by default for new forums. These are yet to be adjusted to our reality.

This has already been done. Users need to have account of any tier at VHTV in order to participate in VHTV Community.

Btw, members need to be able to quote posts.

Aren’t they now? We will check that ASAP. Sounds wrong.

I don’t see any way to quote a post.

Btw, hi James. Long time no see.

You say that you don’t have a problem with people creating clubs or PMs. I don’t think this tool is available here now, but I would not allow it if I were you. Gives popular members the ability to steal your forum, hoard information, and control it’s members thoughts and content for their own selfish needs. A forum is best when its members are in a level playing field. A popular member can easily take it over and block the diversity of thought and ideas. Be careful and maintain your power over your property.

I now have to wonder if my own personal information was made available to this outside moderator now. I hope that part of my agreement to be here doesn’t include you sharing my personal information with third parties or other people who may do some kind of work for you. That would not be cool at all.

No need to worry. We checked the activity logs within the event window to make sure no data was compromised. There were no VHTV users singed up to the forum a week ago anyway.

Do you plan to cut off CamCaps permission to post your content there? What if the forums here don’t take off?

No, we don’t plan to cut any relations with CamCaps. We consider them as friends and are really glad the community there is flourishing.

What if the forums here don’t take off?

We consider this totally possible, no hard feelings intended if the experiment doesn’t take off.
