Do the participants use their real names? If not do they know that we give them names?

Some of guests and participants do. Most do not. Most know that we give them names.

for example like when we respond to someone like Shana and we talk about Chyna she knows who we are talking about even though Chyna goes by Annie?

To my knowledge the Participants, choose a name for themselves when they join the project,But it is probably not their legal official name! but sometimes the will use real names in conversations.

The names we use for visiting guests are sometimes adopted if they decide to join on a permanent basis!

think back 15 years how our life on the internet was back then… compare that with today… and now think 15-20 years into the future. or 40+, if you plan to include the grandc___dren, who knows what will happen by then. everyone can probably walk around with glasses that have VR and AR built in, or whatever (assuming that a crazy dictator doesn’t press the big red button in the name of “freedom” …). and who knows what is ‘normal’ on the internet.
in this respect: no, I’m not worried about VH and whatever. until then there are completely different problems that we don’t know about yet
