The Sarmat missile system, which is supposed to replace the Voyevoda intercontinental missile, has not yet been delivered to Russian troops. This was revealed by Putin himself (Telegram: Contact @Pravda_Gerashchenko) at the Valdai forum.
“Sarmat” began to be developed back in 2013, Putin promised that in 2020 the missile will arrive to the troops. Russia’s existing Voyevods are no longer suitable, their service life expired back in the mid-2000s, and then it was extended until 2016.
“It is believed that Russia has up to 40 Voevods. But in practice we can count zero. All their terms have long since expired. Russia’s nuclear disarmament is actually taking place,” military expert Pavel Luzin told The Moscow Times.
